César Augusto Correia de Sequeira was born in Peso da Régua, Portugal, in 1943. On graduation in Chemical Engineering from the Technical University of Lisbon in 1968 (7-year course) he was invited to join the staff of Instituto Superior Técnico as Lecturer (“assistente”). One year later he was invited to serve as Reader (“regente”) of Electrochemistry, Electrometallurgy and Electrothermy (one year course), for the 6 th year students of chemical and electrotechnical engineering. In 1971 he started high temperature chemistry research in the Nuffield Research Group at Imperial College, obtaining a DIC (Diploma of Imperial College) in 1972 and a PhD from London University in October 1974. In the same year he returned to Lisbon and joined the University teaching staff, where he has been teaching and supervising research (at undergraduate, MSc and PhD levels) for more than 50 years. In 1976, jointly with the Dean of the University of Lisbon, he established the CECUL (Centre of Electrochemistry and Kinetics of the University of Lisbon). He spent one year (1982) with the Materials Development Division of the Atomic Research Establishment (Harwell, U.K.), where he performed a fruitful research work on the development of all solid-state polymer-based lithium cells. He spent another year (1985-86) at the University of Utah, where he joined the research group of Prof. J. Janata on ion selective field effect transistors. He was also Invited Professor at UMIST (UK), Univ. of Reading (UK), Univ. of Iserlohn (Germany), and Univ. of Arizona (USA). He has directed several international projects on electrochemistry of hot corrosion, microbial corrosion, metal extraction, conducting polymers, energy storage and conversion. Most of these projects were financed by the European Union. He is author/co-author of over 270 technical papers and 239 conference proceedings, editor/co-editor of 15 books and author of a recent book, author/co-author of 24 book chapters, a frequent lecturer or panelist at scientific meetings, and is a member of several renowned international societies, being a Fellow of the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining, IOM3, U.K., a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (U.K.), and Active Member (now Emeritus Member) of the Electrochemical Society (U.S.A.). He is also serving as a reviewer for many scientific Journals. He has also acted as a consultant for several medium-sized companies. Recently, he left CeFEMA (Center of Physics and Engineering of Advanced Materials), where he was coordinating the Materials Electrochemistry Group (MEG-IST, University of Lisbon).

Thomas J. Webster’s (H index: 128) degrees are in chemical engineering from the University of Pittsburgh (B.S., 1995; USA) and in biomedical engineering from RPI (Ph.D., 2000; USA). He has formed over a dozen companies who have numerous FDA approved medical products currently improving human health in over 30,000 patients. His technology is also being used in commercial products to improve sustainability and renewable energy. Dr. Mohamed Khayet is director of the University Complutense of Madrid (UCM) Research Group “Membranes and Renewable Energies (MER)” and Professor (Applied Physics Area) at the Faculty of Physical Sciences (UCM) (Department of Structure of Matter, Thermal Physics and Electronics). He got his Ph.D. (1997) in Physical Sciences and he realized various research stays in international institutions (Industrial Membrane Research Institute in Ottawa, Canada; Institute of Nuclear Chemistry and Technology in Warsaw, Poland; Centre for Clean Water Technologies at the University of Nottingham in UK; Singapore Membrane Technology Centre and Nanyang Technological University in Singapore, Yale University in New Haven, USA; University of California Berkeley in USA, etc.). Among other grants, he got the Fulbright Grant (2019). He is an expert in the field of membrane science, nanotechnology and renewable energies. Professor Vladimir G. Chigrinov is Professor of Hong Kong University of Science and Technology since 1999. Dr. Jun Young Cheong is currently a reader (associate professor) at the James Watt School of Engineering, University of Glasgow, United Kingdom, since May 2024. He was previously a group leader at University of Bayreuth, serving both Department of Chemistry and Bavarian Center for Battery Technology. Prior to joining University of Bayreuth, he was a staff engineer at Samsung SDI, specializing on electrode processing. Qibin Zhu has been an Associate Professor in the College of Energy and Electrical Engineering at Hohai University since 2025. Ya Lin has been an Associative Professor in the School of Physics at Northeast Normal University since 2021. He received his Bachelor Degree from Dalian University of Technology and doctoral degree from Northeast Normal University in 2018. He is a member of the Chinese Institute of Electronics and the Chinese Institute of Physics. As a main member, he won the first prize of natural Science in Jilin Province. By 2024, He has published over 22 papers in SCI journals such as the Advanced Materials, Advanced Functional Materials, NPG Aisa materials. His research group focuses on memristive materials and nanodevice, neuromorphic computing and neuromorphic sensory system.

Jun Fang graduated with a degree in medicine from Bethune Medical University (Jilin University's Faculty of Medicine) in 1995. He completed his master's degree in thoracic surgery at China Medical University in 1998 and then pursued his Ph.D. in Medicine at Kumamoto University's in 2003. From 2003 to 2005, Fang worked as a Research Associate at Duke University Medical Center in the United States. In 2005, he joined Sojo University's Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences. Since 2016, he has been a visiting professor at the School of Public Health, Anhui Medical University (China). For many years, he has conducted research on the EPR effect and anticancer and anti-inflammatory nanomedicine. Giuliana Impellizzeri has a permanent position as Senior Researcher at the Institute for Microelectronics and Microsystem (IMM) of the Italian National Research Council (CNR), and she also has the license of Full Professor. She obtained her Master Degree in Physics (110/110 cum laude) from the University of Catania in 2000. She worked as "Device Engineer" at STMicroelectronics for 20 months. Then, she got her Ph.D. in Physics (cum laude) from the University of Catania in 2004. Her research interests are mainly focused on photocatalytic nanomaterials for applications in wastewater treatment. She mainly publish in leading peer-reviewed journals. She is author of more than 170 scientific papers, 2 book, and 1 book chapter. She was also editor of 15 special issues. Her publications have gained more than 5061 citations in 20 years, with 4753 citations/year. Her H-index is 41. She gave several invited talks and keynotes at international conferences, and she organized many conferences. She was Editor of Materials Science in Semiconductor Processing journal (Elsevier), and she is Associated Editor of Frontiers in Chemistry, Catalysis and Photocatalysis (Frontiers). She has participated in many national and international projects with the role of work package leader, unit coordinator, and principal investigator. She is project evaluator for the European Commission and for the Italian Minister of University and Research. Kyujung Kim is currently a professor in Department of Optics and Mechatronics Engineering at Pusan National University (PNU). He received B.S. in a school of Electronic engineering in 2006 and Ph.D. degree in a program for Nanomedical Science and Technology from Yonsei University, Korea in 2012. He worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Max-Plank-Institute for the science of light in Erlangen, Germany from 2012 to 2013. He joined Pusan National University in 2013. His recent research interest is focused on understanding the plasmon coupling effects on biosensing, imaging and optical trapping using nanostructures.

Wu Xiaodong has been an Associate Professor in the College of Nanjing Tech University since October 2023. Dr. Asif Shahzad is a dedicated researcher and educator in the field of Medical Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. He earned his Ph.D. in Medical Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and currently serves at the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, School of Basic Medical Sciences, Kunming Medical University, Yunnan, China.
